Do I need a requisition in order to do testing at CDL?

According to provincial regulations, laboratory testing can only be performed if a requisition is provided by a medical professional who has the right to order laboratory tests.

I have a requisition; how do I go about doing my tests at CDL? Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are not required for the majority of laboratory tests performed at CDL. If you need information regarding test preparation, you may contact the laboratory; otherwise you can simply present yourself at the reception with your requisition. Please refer to our opening hours.

Do I need to fast before doing my tests at CDL?

Certain tests require a 12hr fast. It is best to follow the recommended fasting time indicated on your requisition (or provided by your physician) or you may contact the laboratory for information regarding the test preparation.

How long will it take for my results to be ready?

The majority of routine tests will be ready within 24 hrs. Certain tests have a longer turn around time. For walk-in patients, the test delay will be indicated on your receipt.

What is the cost to do my tests at CDL?

Test costs may vary, depending on type of test(s) that is/are being ordered. Patients may contact us for a price quote; however it is best to fax your requisition in order to receive an accurate and cost efficient quote.

Will my insurance company reimburse me for the tests performed at CDL?

Most private insurance plans reimburse the majority of our laboratory fees. CDL provides all of their walk in patients with official receipts.

Can I obtain a copy of my results?

Patients can come pick up a copy of their results in person at CDL’s head office. Certain results may be sent to patients, however due to the complex nature of some test results, various results cannot be sent to patients.

Can I call CDL to have my results interpreted?

Patients must call their physicians for result interpretations; this is not within the expertise and responsibility of Laboratory Technologists.

Can results be sent to more than one doctor?

Yes, CDL is able to forward your results to more than one doctor, yet it is essential to provide us with the doctors’ coordinates.

What services are offered at CDL?

CDL is a private medical laboratory that offers a wide range of services including: blood tests, cardiology services, ultrasounds, prenatal services, home visits and much more. Please consult our list of available tests.

Do you offer home visits?

CDL offers a phlebotomy service at your home or workplace to those patients who are unable to displace themselves. An appointment is required and additional fees will apply.

Are you open on weekends?

Yes, we are open on Sundays for walk-in patients, from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.

How can I be sure my results will remain confidential?

In order to protect the confidentiality of all of our patients, no information will be divulged to anyone except to the requesting health care professional, his/her designated staff and the patient (depending on the nature of the test), unless the appropriate authorization form is signed by the patient.
